Locked out of your account, or just overdue for a password refresh? Changing your Coachful password takes less than two minutes — whether you still know your current one or need a full reset from the login screen. This guide covers every path: in-app password change, forgot-password reset, social login edge cases, and what to do when nothing seems to work.
TL;DR — Quick Answer
- Know your current password? Go to Account Settings → Security and use the Change Password form.
- Forgot your password? Click Forgot password? on the login screen and follow the email link.
- Signed up with Google or Apple? You may not have a Coachful password at all — see the section below.
- Link expired or email not arriving? Check spam, then request a fresh link — reset links expire after 60 minutes.
How to Change Your Coachful Password (You're Already Logged In)
If you can access your dashboard, changing your password is straightforward. Here's exactly where to go:
- Sign in to your workspace at app.coachful.co/sign-in (or your custom subdomain, e.g.,
yourname.coachful.co). - Click your profile avatar in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
- Select Account Settings from the dropdown menu.
- Navigate to the Security tab.
- Locate the Change Password section. You'll see three fields: Current password, New password, and Confirm new password.
- Enter your current password, then type your new password twice to confirm it.
- Click Save changes. You'll see a confirmation message, and your new password takes effect immediately.
You won't be automatically signed out of other active sessions when you change your password here, but it's good practice to review your active sessions in the same Security tab and revoke any you don't recognize.
How to Reset a Forgotten Coachful Password
Can't remember your password? No problem. The reset flow is quick and starts right on the login page.
- Go to app.coachful.co/sign-in.
- Click the Forgot password? link below the password field.
- Enter the email address associated with your Coachful account and click Send reset link.
- Open your inbox and look for an email from no-reply@coachful.co with the subject line "Reset your Coachful password".
- Click the Reset password button inside the email. This link is valid for 60 minutes.
- On the reset page, enter your new password and confirm it, then click Set new password.
- You'll be redirected to the login screen. Sign in with your new credentials.
Pro tip: If you're a coach with a custom domain (e.g.,coaching.yourbrand.com), the forgot-password link in emails will still route throughapp.coachful.co. That's expected — both URLs share the same account system.
Password Requirements on Coachful
Coachful enforces minimum password strength to protect your client data and payment information. Your password must meet all of the following:
- At least 8 characters (12+ recommended)
- At least one uppercase letter (A–Z)
- At least one lowercase letter (a–z)
- At least one number (0–9)
- At least one special character (e.g.,
!,@,#,$)
Passwords are hashed and salted before storage — Coachful never stores your plain-text password. If you're managing a coaching business with client payment data flowing through Stripe Connect, a strong, unique password is one of the simplest security wins you can make.
Changing Your Password on the Coachful Mobile App
Coachful's mobile experience is available as a progressive web app (PWA) and as a native shell on iOS and Android via app.coachful.co/mobile. Password management works the same way on mobile as it does on desktop.
- Open the Coachful app on your device.
- Tap the menu icon (three lines or your avatar) in the top corner.
- Tap Account Settings, then Security.
- Follow the same steps as the desktop flow above.
If you're on the forgot-password flow from mobile, the reset email link will open in your device's default browser. Complete the reset there, then return to the app and sign in with your new password.
Already using Coachful to run your programs and manage clients? If you haven't set up two-factor authentication yet, the Security tab is also where you'll find those options — worth enabling while you're there.
Google and Apple Sign-In — Do You Have a Password?
If you created your Coachful account using Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, Coachful did not create a password for your account. Authentication is handled entirely by Google or Apple.
To change the password for a Google-linked account
You'll need to change your Google account password directly at myaccount.google.com/security. That change will propagate automatically — no action needed inside Coachful.
To change the password for an Apple-linked account
Manage your Apple ID password at appleid.apple.com. Same principle applies.
Adding a Coachful email/password alongside social login
Want to switch to email/password login or add it as a fallback? Go to Account Settings → Security and look for the Set a password option (visible only if your account doesn't yet have one). Enter and confirm a new password, and from that point on you can sign in with either method.
Troubleshooting Common Password Issues
I didn't receive the reset email
First, check your spam or junk folder — transactional emails from no-reply@coachful.co occasionally get filtered. Also verify you're searching the correct inbox; it's easy to request a reset to a work email when your Coachful account uses a personal one. If 5 minutes have passed and nothing has arrived, request a new link. Each request invalidates the previous one.
The reset link says it's expired
Reset links expire after 60 minutes from the time they're sent. If your link has expired, return to the login page, click Forgot password?, and request a fresh one. Act quickly — open the email on the same device you're using if possible.
My new password won't save — I keep seeing an error
This almost always means your new password doesn't meet Coachful's requirements (see the section above). Check for all required character types. Also make sure both the New password and Confirm new password fields are identical — copy-paste errors in the confirm field are surprisingly common.
I changed my password but I'm still signed in on other devices — is that a problem?
In-app password changes (from Account Settings) do not force-sign-out your other sessions by default. If you believe your account was accessed without your permission, go to Account Settings → Security → Active Sessions and revoke all sessions. Then change your password immediately.
I'm a coach — my client says they can't reset their password
Clients log in through your coaching workspace URL (e.g., yourname.coachful.co) or through the main Coachful app. They follow the same forgot-password flow. Make sure they're entering the email they used when they first enrolled in your program or accepted your invitation. If they still can't get in, you can resend their invitation from Coach Dashboard → Clients, which triggers a fresh onboarding email.
I'm an editor or virtual assistant on someone else's workspace — how do I change my password?
Your login is tied to your own Coachful user account, not the workspace you've been added to. Follow the same steps above — either the in-app Security tab or the forgot-password flow — using the email address your account was created under. Changing your password has no effect on the workspace owner's account.
Best Practices for Keeping Your Coachful Account Secure
A coaching platform holds sensitive data: client progress notes, payment records, session recordings, and private messages. These habits keep that data safe:
- Use a unique password — never reuse a password from another service. A password manager like 1Password or Bitwarden makes this effortless.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) — found in Account Settings → Security. Even if your password is compromised, 2FA blocks unauthorized access.
- Change your password if you suspect a breach — if you receive a login notification for an action you didn't take, reset your password immediately and review active sessions.
- Keep your recovery email up to date — if your primary email becomes inaccessible, your recovery email is how you regain access.
- Sign out on shared devices — if you ever access Coachful from a shared or public computer, always sign out when finished and avoid saving credentials in the browser.
Coaches on Coachful's Scale plan can add team members (editors, virtual assistants) with role-based access rather than sharing login credentials. That's the safest way to collaborate — every person uses their own account. See Managing team roles and permissions for details.
