Sign In to Coachful with Your Apple ID
If you've ever fumbled with a forgotten password right before a coaching session, Apple Sign In is the fix. Coachful supports Sign in with Apple across its iOS app, Android app, and mobile web gateway — so you can get into your workspace in one tap, with no password to remember and no extra account to manage.
This guide covers everything: how to set it up the first time, how to reconnect if you've already registered with another method, and what to do when something goes wrong.
TL;DR
- Tap Sign in with Apple on the Coachful login screen to authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password.
- Works on iOS (native app), Android (PWA), and any browser at app.coachful.co/sign-in.
- You can choose to share or hide your real email — Coachful accepts Apple's private relay address.
- If you already have a Coachful account, your Apple ID will link automatically when the email matches, or you'll be prompted to merge accounts.
What Is Sign in with Apple?
Sign in with Apple is an authentication standard from Apple that lets you use your existing Apple ID — secured by Face ID, Touch ID, or a six-digit passcode — to log in to third-party apps and websites. Instead of creating a username and password for every service, you delegate identity verification to Apple, which already knows who you are.
Apple's implementation is privacy-first by design. When you sign in to Coachful for the first time, Apple gives you the option to share your real email address or generate a private relay address (something like abc123@privaterelay.appleid.com). Coachful accepts either format, and all platform emails — session reminders, program updates, invoices — will be forwarded correctly either way.
From a security standpoint, Sign in with Apple uses industry-standard OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect. Apple also performs anti-fraud checks on your account before issuing tokens, which means bots and fake accounts are significantly harder to create. For coaches managing sensitive client relationships, that extra layer of trust matters.
How to Use Apple Sign In with Coachful (Step-by-Step)
The flow is slightly different depending on whether you're a brand-new user or you already have a Coachful account. Follow the path that fits your situation.
New Users: Creating a Coachful Account with Apple
- Open the Coachful app on your iPhone or iPad, or navigate to app.coachful.co/sign-in in Safari (or any browser).
- On the login screen, tap the Sign in with Apple button — it's the black button with the Apple logo, below the email/password fields.
- iOS will show a Face ID or Touch ID prompt (or ask for your device passcode). Authenticate.
- Apple will display a sheet asking whether to Share My Email or Hide My Email. Choose whichever you prefer. If you hide your email, Apple generates a relay address — save it somewhere, because you'll need to recognise it if you ever look at your Coachful account settings.
- Tap Continue. Apple sends a secure token to Coachful.
- Coachful creates your account and drops you into the onboarding flow. If you were invited to join a coach's program or squad, that invitation will be automatically redeemed.
- Complete your profile — add a display name, photo, and time zone. Coaches should then head to Coach → Settings → General to configure their subdomain (e.g.,
yourname.coachful.co).
Existing Users: Linking Apple Sign In to Your Coachful Account
- Go to app.coachful.co/sign-in and tap Sign in with Apple.
- Authenticate with Face ID / Touch ID.
- If the email Apple provides matches your existing Coachful account: Coachful will automatically link the Apple credential to your account and log you in. You're done.
- If there's an email mismatch (e.g., you used a different email when first signing up): Coachful will prompt you to sign in with your original method to confirm ownership. Once confirmed, both sign-in methods will be linked, and you can use either going forward.
- After linking, you can verify the connection under Account → Security → Linked Sign-In Methods.
Signing In on Subsequent Visits
After the first-time setup, signing in is one tap. Open the app or visit the sign-in page, tap Sign in with Apple, and authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID. Coachful's session stays active for 30 days on trusted devices, so you'll rarely need to re-authenticate on your primary phone.
Coachful tip: Coaches who use the Coachful mobile app daily save an average of several minutes per week just on login friction — time better spent inside their programs and client chats. If you haven't downloaded the app yet, grab it at app.coachful.co/mobile or search "Coachful" in the App Store.
Apple Sign In on Android and the Web
Sign in with Apple is not limited to Apple devices. Coachful's Android app (delivered via the progressive web app shell at app.coachful.co/mobile) and the full browser experience at app.coachful.co/sign-in both support Apple Sign In.
On Android or a desktop browser, tapping Sign in with Apple opens an Apple-hosted popup or redirect. You enter your Apple ID email and password (and a two-factor code if prompted). Apple then issues the same token it would on an Apple device. The experience is slightly less seamless than Face ID — no biometric prompt — but it works identically from Coachful's perspective.
Clients who use Coachful on a mix of devices (say, an iPhone for quick check-ins and a Chromebook for program work) will find that Apple Sign In keeps them consistently authenticated across both, as long as they use the same Apple ID each time.
Privacy Settings: Relay Email Addresses Explained
When you choose Hide My Email during first sign-in, Apple creates a unique relay address tied to your Apple ID. Any email Coachful sends to that relay address — booking confirmations, program notifications, Stripe payment receipts — gets forwarded to your real inbox by Apple's servers.
A few things to keep in mind:
- You can pause or delete relay addresses in your Apple ID settings at appleid.apple.com under Sign in with Apple → Coachful → Stop Using Apple ID. Doing this will lock you out of Coachful unless you've linked another sign-in method first.
- Coaches cannot see your relay address differently from a normal email. In their client list, it simply appears as your relay address. You can update your display name to something recognisable so your coach sees your name, not a cryptic string.
- Coachful does not store your Apple ID password — only the token Apple issues. Your Apple credential stays with Apple.
Best Practices for Coaches Using Apple Sign In
If you're a coach running a program on Coachful, here's how to get the most out of Apple Sign In — both for yourself and your clients.
Recommend Apple Sign In to Your Clients
Lower friction at login means higher engagement with your program content. When onboarding new clients, include a one-liner in your welcome message: "You can sign in with your Apple ID — no password needed." Clients on iPhone especially will appreciate it. Higher login rates directly correlate with higher task completion rates inside your programs.
Secure Your Own Coach Account with a Strong Apple ID
Your Coachful coach account holds your client data, Stripe billing details, and scheduling information. Make sure your Apple ID itself is protected with a strong password and two-factor authentication enabled. Since Apple Sign In relies entirely on your Apple ID's security, this is your single most important protection. You can verify 2FA is active at appleid.apple.com.
Best practice: Use Apple Sign In as your primary method, but also set a Coachful password as a backup. Go to Account → Security → Set Password after logging in. This way, if you ever lose access to your Apple ID, you have a fallback.
Keep Your Apple ID Email Current
If you change your Apple ID email address and you chose to share your real email with Coachful originally, your Coachful account won't automatically update. Log in, go to Account → Profile → Email, and update it manually to keep notifications flowing.
Troubleshooting Apple Sign In Issues
"Sign in with Apple" Button Doesn't Appear
The Apple Sign In button appears on all Coachful login screens by default. If you don't see it, try a hard refresh (pull down to refresh on mobile, or Cmd+Shift+R on desktop). If you're on an older version of the Coachful app, update it via the App Store. The button is not shown inside a coach's custom-branded subdomain login if that subdomain has disabled social login — contact your coach or check with Coachful support.
Face ID / Touch ID Prompt Doesn't Appear
This usually means biometric authentication is disabled for the Coachful app in your iPhone settings. Go to Settings → Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID & Passcode) and make sure the Coachful app is toggled on under "Use Face ID For". If the app doesn't appear in that list, delete and reinstall it from the App Store.
"This Apple ID Is Already Associated with Another Account"
This error appears when your Apple ID email is linked to a different Coachful account — for example, if a team member or family member used the same Apple ID on a shared device. Sign out of that Apple ID on the device, sign in with your own Apple ID, and try again. If accounts have been genuinely merged in error, contact support@coachful.co for manual remediation.
You're Signed In but Taken to the Wrong Workspace
Coachful is multi-tenant — you might be a client in one coach's program and a coach yourself with your own subdomain. If Apple Sign In lands you in the wrong context, check the URL. Client-facing programs live at your coach's subdomain (e.g., jane.coachful.co), while your coach dashboard is at app.coachful.co. Bookmark both if you switch contexts regularly.
Emails Not Arriving After Using "Hide My Email"
If you're not receiving Coachful notifications, your Apple relay address may have been paused or deleted. Visit appleid.apple.com, navigate to Sign in with Apple → Coachful, and confirm the relay is active. Also check your spam folder — some mail clients misclassify relay-forwarded email.
Lost Access to Your Apple ID
If you've lost access to your Apple ID entirely, you cannot use Apple Sign In until Apple restores your account. During the recovery period, use your Coachful email + password to log in (if you set one up as a backup). If you never set a Coachful password, use the Forgot Password flow on the sign-in page — Coachful will send a reset link to the email address on your account, including relay addresses that are still active.
Apple Sign In vs. Other Login Methods on Coachful
Coachful supports several authentication methods: email + password, Google Sign In, and Apple Sign In. Here's a quick comparison to help you decide what's right for you:
- Email + Password: Most universal, works on any device or browser. Requires managing a password — use a password manager.
- Google Sign In: Ideal for coaches heavily embedded in Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Calendar). Great if you already use Google for everything.
- Apple Sign In: Best for iPhone and iPad users who want biometric convenience and maximum privacy. Apple's private relay email is a unique privacy advantage not offered by other providers.
You can link multiple methods to a single Coachful account. Many coaches link both Google and Apple so they can switch devices without friction. Do this under Account → Security → Linked Sign-In Methods.
