Starting a new coaching business — or switching platforms — means you need to see the software working before you commit. The Coachful free trial gives you hands-on access to the full platform so you can build, test, and launch without entering a credit card on day one.
This guide walks you through exactly what's included in the free trial, what the limits are, how to make the most of the trial period, and what happens when it ends.
TL;DR — Quick answer
- The Coachful free trial lets you explore the platform before choosing a paid plan (Growth or Scale).
- You get access to core features: programs, squads, bookings, website builder, billing setup, and Michelle AI.
- a credit card is required at signup, but you won't be charged during your 7-day free trial.
- When the trial ends, you pick a plan — your data, programs, and settings are fully preserved.
What is the Coachful free trial?
The Coachful free trial is a time-limited period during which you can use the platform as a fully functional coach. You get your own custom subdomain (yourname.coachful.co), access to the coach dashboard, and the ability to build out real programs, set up your booking schedule, and even connect Stripe to start accepting payments.
Think of it as a working sandbox, not a stripped-down demo. You can invite real clients, create a live program, and deliver actual coaching sessions during the trial. Everything you build stays with your account when you upgrade.
The trial is designed for coaches at any stage — solo practitioners launching their first digital offer, experienced coaches migrating from another tool, and agency owners exploring Coachful for their team.
What's included in the free trial
During the trial, you have access to all of the features in Coachful's core stack. Here's what you can actually build and use:
Programs and curriculum builder
You can create structured coaching programs with weeks, days, tasks, goals, and habits. A typical setup might be a 12-week program with 3 weekly tasks and daily habit check-ins — all configurable from the program builder. You can publish the program, enroll clients, and start delivering content immediately.
Squads (group coaching and community)
Cohort squads are created automatically when clients enroll in a program. Community squads give you an always-on group chat space for your audience or mastermind. You can set up both types during the trial and see how real-time group messaging works inside the platform.
Bookings and scheduling
Set up your availability, configure 1:1 session types, group calls, and intake calls. Sync your calendar and let clients book directly from your coaching page. You can even run instant calls from within a session without leaving the platform.
Website and landing pages
The drag-and-drop website builder is fully available. You can build a coaching website, a lead-magnet page, a link-in-bio page, or a full funnel during the trial. Your site publishes live at your Coachful subdomain the moment you hit publish.
Stripe billing
Connect your Stripe account during the trial and create real offers — one-time payments, recurring subscriptions, multi-tier pricing, payment plans, and coupons. You can take live payments from clients during the trial period. Coachful uses Stripe Connect, so funds go directly to your bank account.
Stream-powered chat and video
Real-time messaging and HD video sessions are available from day one. Message your clients, run video calls, and experience the full communication stack — all built on Stream's infrastructure for reliability at scale.
Michelle, the AI assistant
Michelle is Coachful's built-in AI co-pilot. During the trial, you can ask Michelle questions about the platform, have her help draft program content, or execute actions inside your dashboard. It's a strong way to speed up setup and get answers without leaving your workspace.
Mobile access
Coachful works as a progressive web app and has a native iOS/Android shell. During the trial, you and your clients can access the platform via app.coachful.co/mobile or by downloading the app — no additional setup required.
Pro tip: The fastest way to evaluate any coaching platform is to run a mini version of your actual program — not a fake one. During your Coachful free trial, import or recreate one real program, invite one or two real clients, and deliver a live session. You'll learn more in 48 hours of real use than in a week of clicking around an empty account.
How to start your Coachful free trial
- Go to coachful.co/get-started and click Start free trial.
- Enter your name, email address, and a password. no charge during the 7-day free trial — credit card required at signup, cancel anytime in one click.
- Choose your coach subdomain — this becomes
yourslug.coachful.co. Pick something close to your brand name since you can point a custom domain to it later. - Complete the onboarding checklist inside the dashboard. The checklist surfaces the most impactful setup steps first: connect your calendar, build your first program, set up a session type, and configure your Stripe account.
- Optionally, invite Michelle (AI) to help you complete setup steps faster — just type your question or command in the Michelle panel.
The whole signup process takes under three minutes. Your coaching workspace is live immediately.
How to make the most of your trial period
A free trial is only as useful as the effort you put into it. Here's a focused plan to evaluate Coachful properly.
Day 1 — Build your core offer
Go to Coach → Programs → Create new and set up at least one program. Add a realistic number of weeks and tasks — even a 4-week version of your flagship offer is enough to evaluate the curriculum builder. Then create at least one session type under Bookings → Session types.
Day 2 — Set up your public presence
Open the website builder and publish a simple coaching page. Add your bio, your program offer, a booking button, and a lead capture form. This is a good test of how fast you could actually go live with Coachful as your primary client-facing tool.
Day 3 — Invite a test client
Invite a colleague or a trusted existing client as a test enrollee. Walk them through the client experience: enrolling in the program, joining the cohort squad, booking a session, and sending a message. The client experience is just as important as the coach dashboard.
Days 4–7 — Run a real session and review
Hold at least one video session using Coachful's built-in video. Check the messaging, review how program progress is tracked, and look at the reporting available in your dashboard. By the end of the first week, you should have a clear picture of whether Coachful fits your workflow.
Coaches using Coachful often say the "aha moment" comes when they see a client complete a task, trigger a habit check-in, and send a message — all within a single cohesive product. That stickiness is hard to appreciate without actually running it live.

Roles and team access during the trial
Even during the trial, you can add team members to your workspace. Coachful supports multiple org roles: super_coach (that's you, the owner), coach, member, and virtual_assistant. If you have a VA or a co-coach, invite them during the trial so you can evaluate the collaboration features before committing to a plan.
User-level roles — user, editor, coach, admin, super_admin — control what people can see and do inside the platform. Testing with at least one additional role gives you a realistic picture of how team coaching would work.
What happens when the free trial ends
When your trial period expires, you'll be prompted to choose a paid plan. Coachful currently offers two tiers: Growth and Scale (with legacy Starter and Pro plans for existing users). Pricing details are always current at coachful.co.
Your data — programs, clients, sessions, website, squad messages — is preserved in full. Nothing is deleted at trial end. If you need a few extra days to make a decision, contact support; the team is reasonable about brief extensions for coaches who are actively evaluating.
If you choose not to upgrade, your account enters a restricted state. You won't lose your data, but client-facing features will be paused until you activate a plan.
Troubleshooting common trial issues
I didn't receive a confirmation email
Check your spam or promotions folder. The confirmation comes from no-reply@coachful.co. If it's not there after five minutes, go to the sign-in page and use "Resend confirmation." Make sure you used a valid email address — typos in the domain (e.g., .con instead of .com) are the most common culprit.
My subdomain is already taken
Subdomains are globally unique across all Coachful workspaces. If yourname.coachful.co is taken, try adding your specialty or location — e.g., janesmith-fitness.coachful.co. You can always point a custom domain (like coaching.yourdomain.com) to your workspace later, so the subdomain matters less than it seems.
Stripe Connect isn't completing
Stripe's onboarding requires identity verification and a valid bank account. Make sure you're using a personal or business Stripe account (not a test account) and that you've completed all required fields in the Stripe Connect onboarding flow. If you see an "action required" banner in your Coachful billing settings, click it — Stripe usually just needs one more document.
Clients can't find my coaching page
Make sure your website or program page is published. In the website builder, a page in "Draft" state is not publicly visible. Go to Coach → Website, check the publish status of each page, and hit Publish. Also confirm that your subdomain is the link you're sharing — not the internal dashboard URL.
Video sessions won't start
Coachful's video is browser-based. Ask both parties to use Chrome or Safari (latest version) and to allow camera and microphone permissions when prompted. If video fails to load, a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R / Cmd+Shift+R) usually resolves it. For persistent issues, check the Stream status page for any active incidents.
I can't see the Michelle AI panel
Michelle is available inside the coach dashboard — look for the AI icon in the bottom-right corner or in the left sidebar, depending on your screen layout. If it's not visible, make sure you're signed in as a coach-role user (not a client/member). Michelle is a coach-side feature and won't appear in the client view.
Free trial vs. paid plan — what changes when you upgrade
The trial gives you a working version of the platform, but paid plans unlock higher client limits, additional team seats, advanced analytics, custom domain support, and priority support tiers. The Growth plan is designed for solo coaches scaling to a full client roster. The Scale plan adds the features that agency owners and multi-coach businesses need — more seats, more programs, and dedicated onboarding support.
For a detailed feature comparison, visit coachful.co and scroll to the pricing section. If you're unsure which plan fits your business, the onboarding team can walk you through it — use the chat widget on the marketing site to reach them.
